I think that what we really need to learn from this is that the dust should always be allowed to settle before we decide which 2 roads are before us. There is NOTHING wrong about taking a step back. It’s not like next year that your shit gonna be geriatric and these dreams still don’t have a boarding gate…..X

I consider it an honor to have shared a stage with you (briefly, but still). I understand what you guys are going through now and would never judge you. I’m so sorry to hear that most of the stress is money related. fucking capitalism doesnt support the arts! its bullshit and you really do have my condolences. Having a BA in studio art, i worry sometimes.

Maybe you guys just need some time off to recollect yourselves, you guys have been working your asses off and for that i am very very proud. i will always respect the DIY aspect of your band. Maybe you can be a band and not have to play 400 shows a year and work 12+ hours a day on the computer?? i’m not sure but I hope this isnt the true end of BJE.

As hard as it was to read this, I back your guys’ decision 100%. Regardless of why you may think records weren’t selling, I can assure you that everyone BJE fan has had a blast being just a fan in itself. I know I have. The reincarnation of your guys’ band started in my Freshman year of High School and ended in my Senior year. I can honestly say I’ve had the silliest times with my friends goofing around while listening to Carmelita Sings and F outside of a local 7-11 here on Long Island, while playing Chess on milk crates in 90 degree July/August weather. It’s been such a fun ride as a fan and I just want to know that I’ll always be a fan, yo!

Let me be clear: you do not need to worry about lack of talent. Your shows are fantastic. Your albums are great and are even recorded properly and mixed well– I enjoy the hell out of them. You have a set of fucking hilarious, well-shot, HD music videos on YouTube that I am convinced are missing two zeros in the view count every time I see them or point people at them.

You do indeed need someone who can function as both manager and PR person. I would turn over every stone and contact you have and see if you can find someone with a solid track record who help you shoulder the load. I sincerely hope someone can be found.

One option may be to pursue some creative projects that are a little easier to monetize– or at least have lower expenses– for a while, and then come back to the band when you’re better known. Another one, which I would strongly encourage you to do, would be to approach some of emerging independent film studios and try to license some tracks out to help you pay for studio space.

You guys kick ass, but you can’t run yourselves into the ground. Take a little time and space as a strategic move. I, for one, will be enthusiastically awaiting whatever creative works you folks do next.
